I am a consultant clinical psychologist specialising in working with Deaf people, people with an intellectual disability and d/Deaf people with an intellectual disability. I work with children, families and adults.

I work comfortably in spoken English and British Sign Language. 


I am registered with the Health Care Professions Council (number PYL02156) and Chartered with the British Psychological Society (number 171111).

I have worked in the NHS for over 16 years and have worked in Universities as a lecturer and researcher.

I work for the Office of the Public Guardian and the Court of Protection as a Special Visitor (more information).


Based in the East Midlands, the specialist nature of my work means that I often work across the UK.

I can provide the following services:

  • Assessments of mental health.
  • Intellectual Disability assessments (Learning Disability).
  • Assessment of adaptation as a consequence of disability.
  • Psychological therapies (CBT, Psychotherapy, EMDR, Solution Focussed Therapy, Personal Construct Therapy, etc.)

  • Assessments of Capacity for people with communication difficulties and/or disabilities.
  • Training for support staff, families and service managers who are supporting a person with communication needs and/or intellectual disability and challenging behaviours.
  • Positive behavioural support: Assessment of challenging behaviour, quality of life opportunities, planning, staff-support and training.

I have been trained to use the Heijkoop Method and am an experienced Discovery Awareness coach - a technique which uses video and structured meetings to help support staff explore their understanding of the people they support.
